The following recommendations were made in research of Karen refugees in British Columbia by Marchbank, Sherrell, Friesen & Hyndman, (2014):

5.  Pre-departure orientation programs to include specific age appropriate orientation      targeting youth, as well as basic pre-settlement language training.

6.   Use common visuals, learning tools and messaging to reinforce key messages.

7.  Accessible funding required to address new and emerging needs.

8. Psycho-social supports, including access to psychologists and other clinical counsellors.
