In their newly published book, Option B: Facing Adversity, Building Resilience and Finding Joy, Sheryl Sandberg and Adam Grant (2017) identify and explore resilience. They define resilience as:
"...the strength and speed of our response to adversity-and we can build it. It isn't about having a backbone. It's about strengthening the muscles around around our backbone."(p.10)
In the Harvard Business Review, Andrea Ovans (01/05/2015) defines resilience in the workplace as:
"...the ability to recover from setbacks, adapt well to change, and keep going in the face of adversity."
I want to explore resilience and how it has already appeared in my life, even while I was unaware of its presence. I hope to learn how to continue building resilience and how to share that information with my daughters, and perhaps friends and colleagues in my life.
